Since it is tough to keep the 15/3 portion of this blog up-to-date with my testing, I want to keep a somewhat current list of my decks that make it past a few games on TCGOne (and warrant further testing) or are slight reinterpretations of previously “successful” lists. Decks that are removed from the “Active Paper Decks” will be moved here
Retired lists – October 2025:

Lightning-Fighting Dark Dragon Clefable Dodrio Toolbox (Silver Bullets)
Updated (~2025.06.15)
+1 Computer Search, +1 Lightning Energy,
-1 Professor Oak, -1 Full Heal Energy.
I am testing an Electabuzz over 3rd Rocket’s Zapdos and just a single copy of each Fighting Pokemon with the idea Nightly Garbage Run will restock them as needed. The decks many single copies of ‘Mon give it a plethora of options to attack opponents (and Dragonite’s Step-In provides defensive power when needed). I recognize that this, along with Kangaskhans, might be diluting some of the decks power. Recently, in an effort to speed up setup, I’ve also added more searching with the 3rd Computer Search.
Lightning-Fighting Wigglytuff Dodrio (Attrition)
Last Updated: 2025.04.06 (No new updates obvious as of ~2025.06.15)
I also maintain a version of the above with a Kangaskhans and Nightly Garbage Run to focus on longer games (and ensure Wigglytuff and Dodrio can be assembled when those longer games occur). Brock’s Mankey (67) and Team Rocket Diglett offer some additional tools versus slower, controlling opponents.
Lightning Dodrio Big Basics
Last Updated: 2024.10.08
Winner of the 2024 Prop 15/3 Megabattle on TCGOne, this no-frills Dodrio Big Basic deck takes little risk (and plays the best of Basics). I prefer Wigglytuff and Fighting variants but keep this around to see where it may perform better.
Fighting Brock’s Sandslash Brock’s Golbat Dodrio
Updated: (~2025.06.15)
+1 Doduo, +1 Chansey, +1 Lt. Surge’s Pikachu (Gym Challenge), +1 Professor Oak, +2 Super Energy Removal, +3 Potion Energy, +1 Full Heal Energy, +2 Fighting Energy,
-2 Electabuzz, -1 Kangaskhan, -1 Nightly Garbage Run, -1 Scoop Up, -1 Chaos Gym, -6 Lightning Energy.
Testing poorly against Slowpoke Lock and Lightning-Fighting Wigglytuff, Brock’s Sandslash is bolstered by a Brock’s Bats, Dodrio and some utility ‘Mon. After trying a 2-2 Sandslash line with Rocket’s Zapdos (and then Electabuzz), I felt the deck inconsistently setup and had Energy type issues; this version plays mostly Fighting Mon (with Brock’s Golbat to answer Fighting Resistance when Pewter City Gym isn’t in play or to contest Grass Pokemon). With so many Fighting-resistant Pokemon, Chaos Gym was removed to focus on sticking Pewter City Gym (and leaning on well-timed Super Energy Removals to support Brock’s attackers).
Some additional attackers in Chansey and Gym Challenge Lt. Surges’s Pikachu offer more Mon to use Double Colorless Energy (and can attack Dodrios along with the punishing Sinkhole Pokemon Power from Dark Dugtrio). I also think Potion Energy may give Brock’s Mankey (68) more effective attacks late game. I am considering looking at a Dark Dragonite version of the deck (with more, non-Fighting, attackers to make Pewter City Gym required during fewer games).
Water Dark Dragon Blastoise Box
Updated: (~2025.06.15)
+2 Gym Challenge Misty’s Poliwag, +2 Misty’s Poliwhirl, +1 Clefable, +1 Clefairy, +2 Computer Search, +1 Super Energy Removal, +1 Gust of Wind, +1 Water Energy,
-3 Ditto, -1 Fossil Articuno, -1 Blastoise, -1 Wartortle, -2 Computer Error, -2 Scoop Up, -2 Full Heal Energy.
Again, I am trying a Dark Dragon Blastoise Deck (this time with a single Blastoise for later in the game)! I still haven’t found a good configuration for using Computer Error beyond very heavy Energy Removal. If this deck can beat Lightning-Fighting Wigglytuff once in 4 games, I would consider it a success!
